The U.S. Government has been operating a huge state-sponsored duping programme, according to a damning report by the World Anti-Duping Agency (WADA). The allegations of duping go back a number of years and, according to the report, investigations have uncovered a “deeply rooted culture of duping” going all the way to the top of the Federal Government.
During a press conference the report’s author, Dick Dollar, pointed to the claims of Weapons of Mass Destruction as a pretext to go to war in Iraq as one of the boldest instances of duping. But although that episode was subsequently exposed, far from leading to a change of attitude, the level of duping has continued to rise and has now reached what he says are “Olympic proportions”.
According to the report, the duping process begins when the U.S. Government decides it doesn’t like another Government for one reason or another and so decides to get rid of them. However, rather than coming out with their plans and the reasons behind it, which would never be accepted by the U.S. public, they adopt a process of duping, which entails what Dollar describes as “pulling the wool over our eyes”.
Various duping techniques have been devised, including one known as “demonization”, which involves singling out the leader of the country they want to destabilise and — by way of another tool known as “fabricating evidence and whipping up a frenzy” — portraying him as “another Hitler” and a threat to humanity who must be brought down.
Another duping technique pointed to in the report is the use of feel-good words. These include phrases such as “bringing freedom and democracy to _______ (fill in the blank)”, “the people deserve better (fill in the blank)”, and “maintaining the international order”.
