Die polisie het die bestuurder agternagesit, in Witkoppenweg en skote op die voertuig gevuur.
Die motor het toe in die heining van ‘n sakeperseel op die hoek van Main- en Witkoppenweg in ‘n heining vasgejaag.
Volgens polisiebeamptes op die toneel is die verdagte voertuig, ‘n silwer Honda Civic deur hulle opgemerk en agtervolg.
The bestuurder is tydens die skietery gewond en is na ‘n nabygeleë hospitaal geneem.
Fourways Review se nuusredakteur, Daniella Potter was op die toneel en het gesê die verkeer in Witkoppenweg was ‘n tyd lank ontwrig, maar is weer normaal.

According to Colonel Lungile Dlamini, spokesperson for the Gauteng provincial police, Douglasdale police are currently investigating the shooting incident that took place in the early hours of the morning.Randburg police allege that they observed a vehicle’s occupants behaving suspiciously in Randburg, and when they tried to stop the care, it sped off. They said the occupants fired shots with police returning fire on Main Road.The number of occupants in the car remains unknown. However, the driver of the vehicle was wounded in the shootout and rushed to hospital for treatment.Colonel Dlamini said that on further investigation it was established that the vehicle, which was a Honda Jazz, had not been been reported as stolen and belonged to a vehicle dealership company.Police members were uninjured during the shootout, and no firearms were found in the vehicle. The circumstances leading to the shootout are being investigated. The Independent Police Investigative Directorate was also called to the scene. On Fourways Review’s Facebook page and website, Fourways residents reported hearing 20 to 30 gunshots at around 3:30am.
