Sover dit buitelandse politiek aangaan, het president Thabo Mbeki rassisme tot beginsel van sy handelswyse verhef, wat hy as manifestasie van Afrika-solidariteit beskou. Aan Mbeki is dit te wyte dat Suid-Afrika tot hede elke skandalige daad van die Zimbabwiese president Mugabe toesmeer en daardeur sy regime aan die lewe hou. Net so duister blyk Suid-Afrika se rol in die Soedan te wees. In die Veiligheidsraad van die Verenigde Nasies het Suid-Afrika hom bemoei om die inhegtenisnemingsbevel teen die Soedanese staatspresident al-Bashir ter syde gestel te kry, alhoewel al-Bashir vir die massamoorde in Darfur verantwoordelik is.<\/p>\n<p>  Onder Mbeki se voorganger Nelson Mandela sou Suid-Afrika se optrede in New York wel anders daaruit gesien het. Maar byna tien jaar na sy aftrede uit die amp van Staatspresident blyk al hoe meer tekens dat die intussen negentigjarige Mandela &#329; uitsondering op die re&euml;l was. Mbeki se moontlike opvolger, die teenswoordige leier van die ANC, Jacob Zuma, redeneer wat buitelandse politiek aanbetref net dieselfde as Mbeki. Binnelands staan hy vir die verval van sedes en norme. Zuma word daarvan beskuldig dat hy belasting ontduik en geld gewas het. Met alle middele tot sy beskikking probeer hy die regsproses teen hom verhinder. &#329; Gewete om te onderskei tussen reg en verkeerd besit hy presies net so min soos sy aanhangers in die ANC.
